Enter The Pit

The Pit is a standalone endgame roguelike challenge mode designed to push even veteran warriors to their breaking point.

Every run delivers:

• Different enemy combinations

• Rotating reward pools

• Escalating difficulty

• Unpredictable modifiers

Normally, The Pit unlocks after completing the main story — ensuring you’re fully familiar with Kratos’ Spartan arsenal and the brutal enemies waiting below.

But if you believe you’re ready sooner, there’s a shortcut.

At the main menu, input the following sequence:

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, L1, R1, Touchpad

Once entered correctly, a new menu option will appear, granting early access to The Pit.

No story completion required.
Just confidence — and courage.

Bring a Friend: Two-Player Local Co-Op

While The Pit can be tackled solo as Kratos, Mega Cat Studios brought back a classic couch-gaming staple: local co-op.

That means:

• Offline play

• Shared screen

• Pure retro energy

Grab a friend and descend into the chaos as Kratos and Deimos, fighting side by side against waves of relentless enemies.

No matchmaking.

Choose Your Agony

Every run begins with a critical decision: selecting your starting Agony.

Agonies are global difficulty modifiers that dramatically alter how each run unfolds. They don’t just make things harder — they force you to adapt.

Examples include:

• Agony of Torment – Enemies regenerate health unless you destroy healing vessels that spawn during combat.

• Agony of Calamity – Defeated enemies explode in fiery bursts, turning every kill into a potential hazard.

As you progress, you can:

• Stack additional Agonies

• Increase the intensity of your chosen modifier

The deeper you go, the more punishing — and rewarding — the experience becomes.

Earn Your Rewards

Survive a run, and you won’t walk away empty-handed.

Symbols of Suffering

Each completed run grants Symbols tied to your chosen Agonies. Reach certain totals and you’ll unlock even more Agonies, expanding future challenge options.

Ashes of Agony

You’ll also earn Ashes of Agony, a Pit-exclusive currency used to unlock permanent upgrades that carry over between runs.

That means:

• Stronger builds

• Smarter strategies
