MyJio App Gets HelloJio Voice Assistant Support on Android
Reliance Jio has added a voice assistant to the MyJio app for Android with an update. Called ‘HelloJio’, this new voice assistant is said to be accessible via a mic icon on the top right corner of the MyJio appon Android. It can be used to access features inside the app.
The HelloJio voice assistant can be used in both Hindi and English languages, reports Telecom Talk, which first spotted the new functionality. The feature’s details aren’t listed on the Google Play changelog, and we weren’t able to see the feature despite using the latest build, indicating it is a server-side rollout.
For those who can see it, as we mentioned, the HelloJio feature is available on the top right corner on the home screen of the MyJio app, beside the ‘Jio Apps’ icon. Clicking the mic button will take you to the interface of the HelloJio voice assistant. An important thing to note here is that there is no handsfree control for accessing HelloJio.
Once open, the voice assistant can perform tasks like mobile recharges, bill payments, playing music and movies, launching Jio apps, making calls etc. You can also ask questions like “What is Dhan Dhana Dhan offer” to get answers related to Jio’s tariff plans. The HelloJio voice assistant can set alarms with the voice command – “set the alarm [followed by the time you wish to set]”.
As we mentioned, all the above-mentioned actions can be performed through Hindi voice commands as well. Other regional languages might also be in the fray for the HelloJio assistant. There are no details about when a similar feature will arrive for the MyJio app on iOS.
A special edition of Google Assistant was recently announced for the Jio Phone (Review), Reliance Jio’s first feature phone. Google, at an event in New Delhi, showed that its software will be able to deliver search results, play music and send text message, all using voice commands on the JioPhone. Jio Assistant, initially available on the JioPhone, also offered voice command functionality with features like making calls, sending text messages, open Jio apps among others.
