Today India is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi who is also fondly known as Bapu, Mahatma Gandhi, and Father of the nation. In the year 2007, UN’s General Assembly had voted to commemorate his birthday as the International Day or Non-Violence. Gandhi who led the Indian freedom struggle against the British rulers was given the title of Mahatma by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. He was assassinated by Nathuram Godse on January 30, 1948.
