WhatsApp Business gets Catalog feature in India: You can showcase your products, features and more

With the advent of WhatsApp Business, it’s now easy for users to reach out to business and vice versa. And as has been the norm, WhatsApp keeps on improving the services every few months with new features and the latest addition to WhatsApp comes in the form of a new Catalog feature for users of WhatsApp Business. The idea behind Catalog is to let business reach out to customers easily with photos, information and other small details.

Basically, with Catalog, WhatsApp allows its business users to create a virtual shop where they can put up photos of their product or services. It’s like sharing cards for products. The Catalog also allows users to put up information related to their businesses such as address, map location, phone number, operating time, and more. With Catalog in place, WhatsApp expects its users to find all the information within the app and not go hunting for its on the web.

Catalog is being rolled out to WhatsApp Business now. If you are a business owner and rely on WhatsApp Business to reach out to customers, you can create a catalog for your own company. To make a Catalog, you will need to head over to Settings and navigate to Business Settings and then click on Catalog. Users will then need to tap on ‘Add Product or Services’ and start adding photographs. Users can add any photo related to the business, product or services.

The app will also let users add more information such as links to the website or address and other important details. Once this is done, you can go ahead and tap on ‘Save’ to publish the catalog. You can also add multiple such catalogs by repeating the same procedure in the app.

Whenever a customer enquires about your product or service, you can share the catalog with him/her from the share window. The customer can then view the product and all the other information you have associated with that particular item.

WhatsApp says, “along with putting photos of the product in the catalog, its price, information and product code can also be added. Applying photos in catalog does not affect your phone’s storage space, but earlier when the business used to send you photos of your product on WhatsApp, then your phone’s storage was full.”

As of the now, Catalog for WhatsApp Business is rolling out to selected number of countries, including India, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Indonesia and the UK.
