Honor View 10 Gets Improved Face Unlock Features and More With New OTA Update
Huawei sub brand Honor on Thursday announced the rollout of a new software update for the Honor View 10 smartphone. This OTA update includes an expansion of Face Unlock technology on the handset. At launch, Honor had introduced Face Unlock only for checking mobile notifications, and is now expanding support for several other functionalities. The rollout has begun on January 17 and is expected to reach all units by January 24.
As we mentioned, the Honor View 10 is now receiving a software update that offers more functionality than before. Apart from providing access to lock screen notifications, Face Unlock will now detect when you are looking at the display, and will turn off the display when you are not. Additionally, Face Unlock will detect the positioning between you and the phone and adjust display orientation accordingly. The OTA update also offers Face Unlock protection when your eyes are closed.
Other features in the OTA update include AI motion detection in the front and rear camera, Super-Resolution Imaging to enhance resolution, AI Zoom, and Smart Tips. Smart Tips include functions such as eye comfort settings, knuckle gestures, wide aperture photos, and QR code scanning.
To recap, the Honor View 10 is a dual SIM smartphone that runs EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0. It sports a 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) IPS LCD FullView display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128 inbuilt storage.
In the camera department, the Honor View 10 comes with a 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual rear camera setup. It also bears a 13-megapixel front sensor. There is a 3750mAh battery under the hood.
