Art exhibition, ‘Divine Intervention’ has soulful narratives by artists, G Subramanian and P Gnana. The commonality that we can find on the canvas of G Subramanian is of a girl child’s face and a lot of mythology. The child happens to be his daughter who passed away at a very young age. “These subjects come naturally to me. The mythological images like Buddha, Ganesha, Krishna and Saraswati come from my childhood memories as while growing up in the coastal village, I listened to mythological stories narrated by the elders. My daughter loved birds and the parrot was her favourite, so all my paintings will depict one at least. The inspiration and spark behind my art is the smile of my daughter. I want the person looking at my art to not only understand the emotion behind it but to also feel it.” Born in Neyveli and currently residing in Singapore, artist P Gnana paints, sculpts and creates conceptual installations. “I’ve obtained a highly captivated audience for the aesthetic and conceptual niche that I’ve created for myself within the ever-competitive dynamics of urban art-making. This, I continue to achieve through my obsessive fascination with the cow, a recurring symbol in my art.”
