Apple will repair iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus for free if they aren’t turning on

Apple is offering a free service programme to repair iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models that may not turn on due to a failed part. Apple has recognised that certain iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices may not power on due to a component that may fail. Those affected devices fall within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between October 2018 to August 2019. The company will repair the affected iPhone 6s models for free.

The iPhone 6s line originally went on sale in September 2015, but was officially discontinued in September 2018 with the launch of the iPhone XS and iPhone XR.

If you are facing issues with iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, you can check the serial number on Apple’s official website to see if your device is available for free repair. Then you can go to an Apple Authorised Service Provider to repair the old iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus. You can also contact Apple Support to arrange mail-in service via the Apple Repair Center.

iPhones will be examined prior to any service to verify if it is eligible for this program, said Apple.

If iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus was affected by the issue, and one has already paid to repair the device in the past, Apple will refund the amount. The program covers affected iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices for 2 years after the first retail sale of the unit.

The repair program is the sixth for Apple this year, according to the company’s website. Earlier this year, it opened repair or recall programs for the old 15-inch MacBook Pro’s battery, some wall adapters, the 13-inch MacBook Pro display back light, MacBook keyboards, and screens of the Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3.
